Your bedroom is your personal sanctuary and should therefore express your feelings and favorite colors. This is why I have come up with these tips to help you design your bedroom.

  1. Choose subtle colors

Soothing shades and restful monochromatic tones bring about a calming effect in the room. This does not mean that you cannot get your favorite color to be in your room, however, you can choose toned-down versions of your color. For example, if your color is blue you can choose a gentle hue of blue.

  1. The ceiling is the fifth wall

Never overlook the ceiling. As much as it is out of view, when you lie in bed you’ll see it. So, why not add a subtle pattern or a color instead of leaving it blank and boring. Painting a lighter version of the wall color on the ceiling will make the ceiling appear lower thereby giving a feeling of comfort and intimacy.

  1. Keep it simple

Do not overdo it. A bedroom should look cozy, simple, and elegant. Ensure there is a space of at least 3 feet between the bed and the wall and at least 2 feet between the bed and other furniture in the room. This will ensure that there is enough space for movement. Furnish the room with only what you need. Everything else is clutter.

  1. Have plenty of storage

Storing things out of sight will bring a feeling of harmony to your room. Choose furniture with extra room and storage space. You can also opt for a storage bench at the foot of your bed to store all the extra bedding.

  1. Include a private nook

Create an intimate lounging or reading area in a corner or just after your bed. You can also place a window bench under the bedroom window where you will get to enjoy the view and natural light.
